Past Presidents
The President's Council's Mission
and Primary Objectives
The President’s Council recognizes and appreciates both the service and the institutional knowledge inherent in the rich lineage of past component presidents. As both the current and immediate past presidents are members of the council, the body aims to maintain a mission-driven throughline. The President’s Council is where we have been and where we intend to go.
How the council supports
AIA New Orleans's
broader goals
The Council is reciprocal. Past presidents are kept abreast of mission and movement within the organization, larger intentions and tendencies. Equally as critical, past officers offer insight, successes and opportunities grounded in past efforts. Together they present an organization that recognizes its past and ably tests opportunities for the future.
The council's current activities, meeting frequency, or key initiatives
Currently the council endeavors to meet once per quarter – past efforts have convened bi-annually. The immediate past president serves as the chair of the council, the catalyst between the current component board and the past presidents. In this role, the past president assists in crafting the meeting agendas and presides at the meetings to guide discussions that help inform both current decision-making and long-term strategic planning.
How past presidents contribute their experience to guide the organization
The council provides institutional knowledge of past events and initiatives of which the current board may be unaware, from fundraising efforts to membership recruitment. The council has shown past successes, for example during transitions of AIA New Orleans executive director and staff.
