Step inside one of New Orleans’ most transportive new dining destinations as AIA New Orleans hosts a tour of Chada, a classic New Orleans home reimagined as a culturally immersive restaurant celebrating the owner’s Thai and Filipino heritage. Designed by StudioWest, this building won the Honor Award in Interior Architecture at the 2026 AIA New Orleans Design Awards.
With the exterior left largely untouched, the transformation happens within: an exceptionally narrow, rectilinear floor plan is organized around a central kitchen that anchors the program and places each cuisine on opposite sides of the building, letting the two identities stand on their own or come together as one. Along the way, you’ll explore the show-stopping custom bar inspired by the silhouette of the traditional Thai headdress, a monochromatic green back dining room layered with a mural and bells custom-made in Thailand, traditional Pateh fabric translated into banquettes and felt acoustic panels, hand-woven cane sconces, and a wraparound tropical garden patio that extends the experience outdoors. It’s a masterclass in how interior architecture can carry culture, identity, and function all at once.
This tour is accredited for 1 AIA LU.
Before, during, and after the walkthrough, we encourage attendees to support Chada by purchasing drinks at the bar, the very centerpiece you’ll learn about.
Space is limited, so please RSVP in advance to secure your spot. We can’t wait to see you there!
