The authenticity of place: New Orleans, Louisiana

Join AIA National for the first AIA Conference on Design for 2023, March 23 – March 25 in New Orleans. This event will highlight one of America’s most unique cities. Its rich and diverse history; vibrant music, arts and food culture; and temperate gulf climate, combine to make a context like no other. It is a place – and a circumstance that has routinely inspired some or the nation’s most highly recognized architecture.

This conference will feature work spanning nearly three centuries. Tours will run the gamut from an in-depth look at the historic buildings that shape Jackson Square, to the museum complex in City Park, to higher education facilities at Tulane University, and individual private homes and housing projects.

We will tour award-winning work by Eskew Dumez Ripple, Lee Ledbetter and Associates, Mithun, Office of Jonathan Tate, Studio WTA, SOM, VJAA, VoorsangerMathes, Waggoner & Ball, and Weiss Manfredi, as well as H.H. Richardson and other historic architects. Projects include COTE® Top Ten Award recipients, AIA National Honor Award winners, and work by four AIA Firm Award recipients.
