Session 1: 12pm
Bill Mendek of Armstrong Ceilings presents “Specifying Metal Ceilings”
Metal ceilings can solve challenges related to visual decoration and acoustic performance in a design space. Learn more about how and why metal ceilings are used for residential and commercial spaces. We’ll start at the beginning with understanding metal manufacturing materials and processes, learn how the size and shape of a panel can affect lead time and cost, and identify how acoustical performance is achieved with various options. We’ll even discuss metal use in exterior applications and the security that metal can provide. Lecture is equivalent to one (1) LU.
Session 2: 1:10pm
Marcie Banks and Scott Ward of JLV Construction present “Smart Planning: Critical Relationships for Smart Construction”
When building a home, the most important relationship is with your customer… the second is your relationship with their builder. Collaboration among the three of you is what guarantees a win-win-win! Knowing your customer beyond their desire to build a beautiful home is critical to creating a successful design that will become a successful build. This may include the timeline and budget, and even the value of the area where the customer envisions their home. Knowing the builder’s level of expertise, whether it’s historical renovation, new construction, limited or total customization, or something else, as well as quality of work and price range, will go a long way in taking the plan from design to competition. Learn how to create a better customer experience and customer-architect-builder relationship so that your endgame project maximizes efficiency, minimizes cost, and doesn’t make you want to pull your hair out! Lecture is equivalent to one (1)HSW.
Session 3: 2:20pm
