Stormwater Management & Investment in NOLA: How One Can Support The Other

August 24, 2022 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Graphic of water flowing down a drain. Invitation details for forum on Aug. 24.
The AIA New Orleans, in collaboration with Zach Smith Consulting & Design, are convening stakeholders for a community forum on stormwater management in New Orleans. Architects, landscape architects, developers, advocates, civil engineers, builders, and more are invited to this discussion on August 24 from 3:30-4:45PM at 1000 Saint Charles Avenue.
This will be the first of a three part effort to:
  • 1. Review the impact of current stormwater related regulations related to stormwater management and investment and development in NOLA.
  • 2. Consider proposed changes to the regulations (intended to be more supportive of investment and redevelopment in NOLA) while maintaining the core intent to increase the net permeable surfaces and stormwater retention in the city.
  • 3. Take action to advocate for these enhancements to city regulations.
Panelists for the forum will include:
Terri Dreyer, AIA, LSBID, Nano Architects and Interiors
Dana Brown, FASLA, AICP, LEED AP ALA, Dana Brown and Associates
Zach Smith, CBO, CFM Zach Smith Consulting and Design
Jamie Saxon, Civil Engineer with Morphy Makofsky, Inc.
Jaime Ramiro Diaz, LEED AP, Waggonner & Ball Architects/Environment
Weather, water run-off, and city-wide flooding and infrastructure impacts are unique challenges we face in the Gulf South. This moment provides us with an opportunity to meet this problem head-on. We’re counting on your participation.
