Join us for an exclusive building tour of the Dew Drop Inn, the recipient of the 2024 Design Awards People’s Choice Award, on October 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The building’s architect and contractor, John Mouton of Studio Kiro and Pat Thomas of Ryan Gootee General Contractors, will guide the tour and focus on preservation requirements to qualify for historic tax credits, design considerations and challenges to maintain the Dew Drop Inn’s historic character while adapting to contemporary use, construction methods, and integration of sustainability, ADA, and code compliance considerations. The Dew Drop Inn, a historic gem in New Orleans, originally opened in the 1940s as a vibrant hub for music and culture. Known for its lively atmosphere, it hosted legendary performances by artists such as Ray Charles and Sam Cooke. Its recent revitalization honors its rich legacy while embracing modern design sensibilities.
