12PM, Derek Saunier of Stego Industries presents Protecting the First Side of the Building
Develop a comprehensive strategy to protect your buildings and occupants from unwanted soil vapors and subterranean termites, through an in-depth look at under-slab physical barriers. Termites are well-known destroyers of wood and other building components; however, soil vapor is often overlooked as a contributor to floor covering failures as well as poor indoor air quality which can compromise the health of a building. Design of building systems, environmental factors, and occupant comfort will be addressed. Additionally, updated information from the relevant ASTM standards and ACI recommendations with regard to under-slab moisture protection will be incorporated.

1:10PM, Damon Brown of Kingspan presents High Performance Rainscreen Design Using Insulated Panels
What should an engineered facade system look like? Project teams are seeking a complete single source system from the studs to the exterior. In the designer’s role, where you place the insulation and how you attach the cladding can be a critical decision when working with a building envelope. We will explore both questions from a building science perspective to give clarity and certainty that it is done properly.

2:20PM, Betsy Barnes of Avallone presents Interior Solutions: Mastering the Physical Movements of People
The performance and appearance of interior spaces within commercial buildings have a measurable impact on occupant satisfaction, performance, and well-being. These elements also have a direct impact on the preservation and performance of the building. In this presentation we look at how to protect interiors of buildings from the movement of people, offering solutions that contribute to productive, comfortable, safe, and resilient interiors. We also look at how these systems can enhance facility functions, particularly in healthcare, retail, and educational settings.
